Meet the Artist
I’m Doug Bogart and I work with wood. In my younger years I worked as a carpenter building custom houses in the beautiful Verde Valley of
Arizona. During our 6 years as missionaries in Guatemala, I taught shop skills to children at a Children’s Home followed by 17 years teaching construction trades to High School students in the Phoenix area. The last 11 years of my career had little to do with the trades, but I’ve consistently had a shop space, tools and side projects under construction.
Now that I’ve retired and we’ve moved to Houston (2 doors from our daughter, her husband, and 9 grandkids) I can dedicate myself to creating more beautiful objects in my new shop. I enjoy working with salvaged wood and bright colored epoxy so that’s what’s up on the website now. I also like
being creative and making other handcrafted wooden items, so we’ll see what strikes my fancy over the next months and years. Feel free to offer
suggestions.
My wonderful and beautiful wife, Lani (lanibogart.blog) and I have been married for 48 years. She is my inspiration and best critic. We enjoy our 5 adult children (1 looking down on us from above) and 9 phenomenal grandkids.
Life is good!
Ordained a Permanent Deacon in the Catholic Church 20 years ago, I still serve our local parish of St. Thomas More in a variety of ways. Sometimes
it is challenging to fit shop time around those duties and all the exterior projects that come with remodeling a “fixer upper!”
If you are interested in custom orders, feel free to reach out via the Contact page and I’ll be in touch.
