This unique board doesn´t look like what people think of when they hear mesquite. It´s quite blond because only a small portion of the heart wood is exposed. What you see is mainly the cambium or outer growth layer of the tree.
Mesquite is native to the Southwest but most Mesquite trees found in urban landscaping are non-native varieties.
