I don't know if that's the best name for this board but it certainly is unique. This slice of Willow Acacia was from the outside edge of the tree and had suffered a lot of damage from Flat Headed Wood Borers. Their holes and tunnels give this board a very distinctive look. The high-gloss epoxy finish and light blue resin only add to the beauty of this board.
I find it satisfying to create beautiful objects from healthy good wood, but to take a piece of badly damaged wood and give it new life as a beautiful and useful addition to your home is especially gratifying. The extra work involved is most definitely worth it.
Yes, it's been heat treated and there are NO live critters in the wood!
Finished with food safe table-top epoxy. Just don't cut on it, please!
